To book a lesson, you need:
- To be 17 years of age and hold a valid provisional UK driving licence (you can apply for a provisional driving licence before your 17th birthday – forms are available from the Post Office or online).
- To meet eyesight requirements of currently 20.5 metres distance.
- A car that suits you, as a large vehicle may prove awkward for manoeuvres. Apex use the Ford Fiesta.
What you should consider
The rate at which people learn to drive varies considerably and many factors play a part (we can’t all surf and we’re not all physicists, but fortunately most people have the ability to drive a car safely).
Family or colleagues may have started with some experience or perhaps many years ago when the demands on them were less: for instance when there was a lot less traffic and road systems may have been less complicated, and certainly test requirements were different! Consequently, their ability and opportunity to pass their driving test were significantly enhanced. Conversely, today, learner drivers are faced with more rigorous hurdles in order to obtain a full driving licence and as such comparison with others seldom provides an accurate assessment of driver ability.
Above all else you need to be:
- Patient
- Motivated
- Determined
For more information about why learning to drive with Apex is real value, see the about us page. In short, we’re not about marketing puff or even prestige cars (after all when you pass your test, chances are you probably won’t be driving a Mercedes or BMW as your first car!). Instead, we prefer to concentrate on providing outstanding professional driver training in a vehicle that best suits the student; for which we will only charge a fair and transparent price.
